Destroying Angel by Lyekka Destroying Angel by Lyekka
A large rat sits rotting on a poisonous/deliriant mushroom with indifference as poisonous fungi sprout from its body. This piece is an attempt to depict misery in stagnation, apathy, and illness.

Scratchboard, watercolor, and a tiny bit of gouache on the spots of the toadstools and some defining outlines. This is a much larger piece at 18x24 inches in size, and in full bleed. This version is 16x24 to save on file size and to show more detail of the rat, but the original is the same as this but with an inch of extra black space on the left and right sides of the image.

I like the pose of the hands and how it goes with the expression. Nice work.

I make this pose myself when nauseated or if I have a migraine. Thank you!

The mushrooms sprouting from the rat make a really nice image - grotesque and beautiful at the same time. Great job on the texture of the fur (as always); that's one fluffy rat.

I've really been aiming for the "beautiful+grotesque" line in everything I do lately, so this is an awesome thing to hear. I try not to use any gore, blood, or anything violent. Thank you!
