I've been working on this for months, and I think it just about touched the 100 hour mark. Whenever I see people here on DA that go "OMG THIS TOOK 20 HOURS SO LONG" over their art I secretly chuckle.
Three (or six, depending on your interpretation) enigmatic white princes share a cautious understanding with suspicious glances. These are tree stags and three rats, for clarification.
8x14 on a 10x16 panel. Scratchboard and watercolor.
edit: WOW a DD! Thanks guys!
note: To those wondering how this could have taken 100 hours of work. My main tools for this were an etching needle, a sharpened leather sewing needle, and fiberglass on a scratchboard panel. I partially carve out the image in black and white, and then I work in progressing stages of watercolor where I lay down one color and partially pull it away using the tools. Repeat again and again. This method is time consuming but worth it.

Suggester says: "Phenomenal, 100 hours, more or less, very well spent."
Outstanding! This is the first piece of work in a while that truly deserves a DD. I'm so glad I took time to look through your art. I'm thoroughly amazed! <3 Keep up the amazing work!
I can't understand why people are being so harsh about you stating how long this piece took for you to finish. I think it's a beautiful, well detailed piece. As someone who carves stamps, I can't imagine the meticulous detail and planning this must have taken you! The lines are so clean, it's amazing.
Still, to those who want to balk at you taking your time, I say this. The Mona Lisa took over four years to paint, animated movies such as Tangled spend near a decade in the making. Just because the world has things like the internet and fast food corporations so that we have become impatient with the world around us doesn't mean that you should disrespect the time it takes for many to work in the traditional arts. Could it have taken someone else less time? Possibly. Does it matter? No. It's your piece, from your heart, and it's beautiful.
I think this is amazing, firstly. But I don't get how you spent 100 hours on it. I've done scratchboard before, so I understand the painstaking work you have here.. every little fine detail.. but 100 hours? Not sure what you were doing for so long. Grats on the DD, very well deserved.
Thank you for sharing your work with us, it is indeed a pleasure each time!!
